I always loved these cars. Dieselgate makes me sad. Still looking for the replacement(s)?

The Alltrack will be out in a few months. 6MT, 1.8t (gasser), and 4motion available together for the first time. Also DSG optional.

To make it even more Euro you could ditch the roof rack, install a tow hook and tow a trailer instead.

I don’t know if it would make you less sad that the new generation of 2.0 TDI engines are very clean when compared to the other diesel engines offered in Europe.

I saw a video on the old Bookface about the Alltrack. That's actually a pretty appealing car.

Are we actually getting a manual on the Alltrak in the states? I recall reading auto-only here. I did see that there will be a 4Motion 6MT wagon without the Alltrack lift and cladding which is neat.

It may have changed in the past couple weeks and I'm going from the rumor mill here...either way, the fact that they're going from slushbox to DSG (for the Auto) is still a plus. I'm torn on whether I'd want the Alltrack, since I'm not a fan of "fake" cladding and skidplates, nor the upcharge that those things usually include. I bet for the same price, the traditional wagon could get you leatherette and panoramic roof, etc.

I seem to recall them backpedaling on the auto only thing, mainly because the demise of the TDI manual combo was a major issue with dealers who no longer had something to replace it with. When I talked to the dealer last week, he confirmed that it will be available specifically for that reason. VW may be cheaters, but at least they aren’t stupid.

Yup, still looking. Holding out hope on a new sportwagen being good.

This is really making me wish I had out on buying the Forester a bit longer. I test drove a 1.8T manual GSW, but I really wished it had a 6th gear and possibly AWD. The Forester has those things, but I prefer to sit lower. Also, the interior in the Golf is years ahead of the Subaru.

I just bought an Outback XT with a 5-speed manual to replace my TDI JSW with, I’ll lose a little bit of room, mpgs and torque, but I’ll make that up with the ability to get out of my driveway in the winter and more Horsepower.
